Sr Research Analyst - UW
Responsibilities
- Utilize statistical methods and techniques to analyze data and deliver data-driven insights for underwriting decision-making and automation.
- Develop models to support underwriting automation.
- Monitor key performance indicators to ensure effective tracking and assessment of underwriting activities.
- Conduct protective value studies to evaluate the effectiveness and value of third party data sources.
- Construct and maintain data dictionaries to ensure clarity and consistency in data usage.
- Perform deep dive analyses to uncover detailed insights.
- Develop models to support underwriting automation processes.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in research, biological science, analytics, statistics, actuarial science or related field, or equivalent experience
- Senior level research/analytics experience in underwriting automation, data science, life insurance, or medical research five to eight years.
- Proficiency in R, Python or equivalent coding language and/or Power BI
- Proficiency in SQL
- Experience building basic statistical and/or machine learning models
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present research findings to senior management
- An inquisitive mindset and the ability and willingness to learn new skills
- Proficiency using MS Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Life underwriting knowledge
- Experience with automation
Working Conditions

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $88,000-$110,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for a 15% Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
