Provide leadership and strategic direction to teams responsible for operational oversight of the Aegon Americas Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls program. Ensure protocols align with the broader organization to mitigate risk and improve operational efficiency. Serve as a thought leader across the organization on internal controls, compliance, and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the identification, assessment, oversight reporting, and disclosure of key controls and deficiencies.
- Ensure business procedures and controls comply with applicable regulatory and corporate standards and practice.
- Work with cross-functional leaders to ensure alignment of controls and policies with finance and operational risk, objectives, and understanding of regulatory obligations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with senior and executive management, process owners, risk management and internal audit personnel to collaborate, assist, or provide direction as needed.
- Lead communications and reporting to and with Group Risk.
- Provide direct reports and teams with learning and development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field or equivalent experience
- 15 years of relevant controls, compliance, or risk management experience in the financial services industry, including leadership roles
- Expert knowledge of the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX)
- Ability to build relationships, influence, collaborate, and communicate with all levels of the organization
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving ability

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $185,000 - $250,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion
