Consultant Relations Director - Retirement
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a national consultant relations strategy that supports Client Executive initiatives and Stable Value sales objectives.
Build and maintain relationships with institutional consultants, advisory firms, home office research analysts, and due diligence teams to increase awareness and advocacy.
Lead consultant outreach, introductory calls, and ongoing relationship management based on internal relationship planning discussions.
Engage Client Executives and SVIO team members to present retirement and Stable Value product capabilities, performance, philosophy, and competitive advantages.
Partner with the SVIO team to position Stable Value effectively in the consultant marketplace and address firm‑specific requirements and approval processes.
Facilitate consultant due diligence efforts, ratings discussions, product approval submissions, and responses to research inquiries.
Provide accurate data for consultant databases such as eVestment, Morningstar, and Hueler, and help maintain consistent product presence in intermediary systems.
Support sales partners by sharing competitive intelligence, consultant insights, and firm‑specific requirements to accelerate retention and sales opportunities.
Identify growth opportunities with emerging consultants and aggregator or home office networks, and represent Transamerica at conferences, roundtables, and industry events.
Coordinate internally to prepare content for RFPs, RFIs, DDQs, consultant questionnaires, and periodic due diligence updates, and support reporting, pipeline updates, and market insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
- Ten years of experience in financial services with exposure to retirement, institutional sales, consultant relations, or investment product distribution
- FINRA Series 6 and 63, or obtain within six months of start date
- Strong knowledge of defined contribution (DC) and defined benefit (DB) markets, Stable Value, and retirement plan investment structures
- Experience building and managing relationships with national and regional consulting firms, advisor platforms, or investment research teams
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with understanding of investment concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Stable Value products, collective investment trusts (CITs), and institutional investment vehicles
- Familiarity with consultant databases such as eVestment, Morningstar, and Mercer GIMD
- MBA or CFA progression

- Extensive travel to support consultant meetings, conferences, and national industry events
Compensation
The salary for this position is generally $212,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
Bonus Eligibility
This position is also typically eligible for Annual Bonus of 20% based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company Discretion.
Commissions
This position may be eligible to earn commissions based on applicable sales incentive plan(s). All details pertaining to the calculation and payment of those commissions are available in the individual provisions of the sales incentive plan that applies.
