Specialist Software Engineer, Monitoring and Observability
Software Engineer with extensive experience in implementing and optimizing enterprise-level monitoring solutions across cloud and on-premises environments. The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in industry-leading observability platforms (AppDynamics, AWS CloudWatch, Swagger, BigPanda, Prometheus, Grafana, Python), various log analytics platforms (Elasticsearch, Splunk) and containerized environments (EKS/ECS). Must deliver comprehensive monitoring frameworks, implement automated remediation, develop executive-level KPIs, and lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance system reliability and performance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and observability of our systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to continuously improve our monitoring capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive observability frameworks integrating cloud-native and on-premises technologies.
- Develop advanced reporting dashboards with actionable insights and automated alerting mechanisms.
- Implement intelligent automation to reduce MTTR and enhance system reliability.
- Drive continuous improvement in monitoring practices through gap analysis and KPI development.
- Lead implementation of container observability solutions for microservices architectures.
- Deliver cost-effective monitoring solutions aligned with business priorities and technical requirements.
- Establish observability standards and best practices across the enterprise technology stack.
- Conduct regular knowledge transfer sessions with global development teams.
- Advance existing monitoring capabilities to next-generation solutions.
- Develop enhanced reporting and analytics capabilities and create predictive monitoring solutions.
- Work collaboratively with other development staff, including contract and offshore Software Engineers, and business product owners in an agile environment.
- Recommend solutions which take into consideration costs, business needs, and system impacts.
- Learn and keep pace with the latest advances in the field and rapidly grasp new technologies to support the environment and contribute to project deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, or other technical field, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of progressive monitoring experience in Application performance management (APM)/Observability Engineering
- Proven expertise with AppDynamics performance optimization and advanced use cases
- Demonstrated proficiency with cloud-native monitoring tools (AWS CloudWatch, ECS/EKS/Containers monitoring).
- Enhanced RUM and synthetic transaction frameworks in AppDynamics and AWS CloudWatch.
- EKS, ECS and container advanced monitoring patterns.
- Advanced ELK stack capabilities for Log Monitoring.
- Strong Python automation skills for monitoring workflow optimization.
- Machine learning integration for monitoring and predictive analysis implementation.
- Prometheus/Grafana advanced metrics and visualization.
- Innovative approaches to distributed system monitoring and Cross-platform observability integration.
- Technical communication skills and the ability to present information to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Understanding of advanced analytics and machine learning concepts and technology implementations
- Experience with big data and real time streaming analytics processing architecture
- Technology or platform certifications (e.g. AppDynamics, AWS, Microsoft)
- Knowledge of the financial services industry

Compensation
The Salary for this position generally ranges between $125,000 - $160,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion
