Position Overview: Real Estate Accounting utilizes accounting and financial principles and techniques, and assists in obtaining, assembling, evaluating, interpreting, recording and analyzing financial data. Prepares financial reports and performs financial analysis as directed. This position exits to support the US Real Estate Equity Platform and Transamerica's Real Estate and Security group.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs professional accounting work involving preparation of real estate journal entries.
  • Ensures the accounting transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Reconciles, investigates, corrects, and adjusts accounting information in accordance with aggressive deadlines.
  • Explains to others how and why transactions were processed and reported.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations.
  • Adheres to deadlines at month-end and quarter-end.
  • Identifies, participates, and contributes ideas for success in relation to assigned work, projects, or other process enhancements.
  • Understands the flow of information, financial systems, appropriate reporting tools and uses that knowledge to troubleshoot problems.
  • Responsible for adherence to the company’s framework of internal controls.
  • May assist in documenting business processes, identifying controls and deficiencies in business processes, testing of identified controls, and mapping of internal financial statements to business processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business, or equivalent education / experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of real estate accounting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all audiences, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects by using effective project management skills.
  • Effective judgment.
  • Detail oriented, accurate and analytical.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and within a team with general supervision.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and PDF.

Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of candidate’s relevant experience and other job-related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
