The Financial Reporting specialist is responsible for the ongoing review, analysis and reporting across all financial aspects of reporting processes. The candidate will gather, consolidate and report financial and certain non-financial information for Aegon worldwide, including preparation of the reports, automated validation checks and supporting all users of the global reporting tools. Description department

The department Financial Reporting & Operations is part of Corporate Financial Center. The primary objective of Corporate Financial Center is to provide Aegon’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors with meaningful financial information (e.g. capital, P&L, balance sheet etc.) to support the board’s decision making process and deliver legally required reporting.

Results

Within this role your focus will be IFRS based reporting and you may also work on other financial reporting deliverables of the department. This provides you the opportunity to broaden your scope and develop in different areas.

Activities include

  • External and internal financial Reporting
  • Data gathering and consolidation of financial and certain non-financial data, in a controlled manner, to create accurate IFRS based reporting deliverables, like the consolidated (interim) financial statements and other IFRS based deliverables.
  • Quality assurance
  • Ensure timely and complete financial reporting, in line with relevant regulations and guidelines (e.g. IFRS, SOX, SEC etc) and cooperate with other parties that deliver input for the reports (e.g. Strategy, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, HR).
  • Assure data integrity and provide high quality information/reports (such as reports, tables, etc.), and continuously strive to promote and implement effective automation and efficiency in existing processes.
  • Coordinate tick & tie activities ensuring management information and external
    financial reporting are error free
  • Control framework
  • Maintain efficient and effective (SOX) controls and ensure adequate execution of internal control over financial reporting processes.
  • External audit
  • Work with the external independent group audit team. This includes providing relevant documentation to support the audit procedures and maintaining a professional relationship with the independent auditor.
  • Local Business units
  • Work actively with Aegon’s business units to ensure that the (IFRS) reporting meets Aegon’s requirements and ensure data quality in line with Aegon’s IFRS reporting manual. This includes the preparation of reporting instructions to business units regarding IFRS reporting requirements and timelines.
  • Provide support to local finance departments in closing a period, from own expertise, in order to enhance the quality and compliance of financial reporting.

Know-how

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance / accounting or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ relevant work experience in the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of application of IFRS accounting principles.
  • Work experience in an international and, or multinational environment.
  • Strong financial reporting experience, including experience with multi-dimensional reporting tools (Aegon works with Tagetik). Experience with PowerBi is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and spoken English).
