Description department
The department Financial Reporting & Operations is part of Corporate Financial Center. The primary objective of Corporate Financial Center is to provide Aegon’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors with meaningful financial information (e.g. capital, P&L, balance sheet etc.) to support the board’s decision-making process and deliver legally required reporting.
Purpose of the job
The Financial Reporting specialist is an experienced professional in the pool. The Financial Reporting Specialist is accountable and responsible for the ongoing review, analysis and reporting across all financial aspects of reporting processes. The candidate will gather, consolidate and report financial and non-financial information for Aegon International segment (that has business units operating in Spain & Portugal, Brazil, China and Bermuda markets, among others), including preparation of the reports, development of automated validation checks and supporting all users of the global reporting tools. You are a financial reporting professional who has strong technical knowledge and a good understanding of IFRS reporting.
Results
Within this role your first focus will be financial reporting.
Activities include:
- Financial Reporting – Assisting in the Aegon Group, and in it in Aegon International segment financial reporting process, including developing reports. Ensure timely, accurate and complete financial and non-financial reporting, in line with relevant regulations and guidelines (e.g. IFRS, SOX, SEC).
- Systems – Maintain adequate Group financial system Tagetik and drive one-time right reporting.
- Quality assurance - Assure data integrity and provide high quality information/reports (such as reports, tables, etc.). Perform tick & tie procedures ensuring external financial reporting and management information are error free.
- Efficiencies and improvements – Support maintaining and developing Aegon’s finance operations processes including driving further efficiencies and quality improvements in these processes. Strive for full automation of Aegon’s financial reporting processes and eliminate manual or end-user computing driven workaround where possible.
- Support - Provide support to business units and other departments by help setting up the requirements, test reporting changes and assist during the periodic closing in order to enhance the quality and compliance of financial reporting.
- Instructions - Work actively with Aegon International business units to ensure that the financial reporting meets Aegon’s requirements. This includes assisting in the preparation of reporting instructions to business units regarding reporting requirements and timelines.
Know-how
- Master’s degree in Finance / Business administration / IT / Economics or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of financial analysis/reporting experience incl. in IFRS and/or Solvency, preferably gained in a BIG 4 company and/or in an insurance company.
- Advanced understanding of a broad range of tools and technologies, analytics and financial analyses.
- Expertise geared towards Financial Reporting Processes (e.g. Tagetik, SAP, etc.)
- Advanced data analysis skills (e.g. Excel, PowerBi, etc)
- Strong communication skills (written and spoken English)
