Aegon understands that there is much more to every one of us than you first realize. That is why Aegon's approach to inclusion and diversity creates an environment where everyone can bring their authentic self to work.  

Our inclusion & diversity approach is designed to support and enrich our culture, encourage employee participation, improve organizational effectiveness, and strengthen understanding of our customers' values. With over 29 million customers worldwide, we need employees that reflect the many intersections of a society and the people we serve.  

Our strategy is designed to support and enrich our culture, encourage employee participation, improve organizational effectiveness and strengthen understanding of our customers’ values. It includes bringing different perspectives to the organization’s operations and decision making.  

To this end, we will strengthen self-awareness to avoid biases, build on our sense of belonging and encourage inclusivity.  

Becoming a part of Aegon's communities  

Aegon has communities and Employee Resource Groups for employees to join, mostly, free of charge. Each group is managed by a dedicated person, or group of people and is open for anyone at Aegon to join.   

LGBTQIA+ network: PROUD

First things first: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and more (LGBTQIA+) employees, customers and partners are welcome at Aegon. To bring people together, to connect and to support, the PROUD employee resource groups are available to all staff. By working closely with human resources and senior management we strive to educate for constant progress.  

As of 2022, the shared goal between all PROUD groups is as follows:  

"Proud promotes equality and visibility of our LGBTQIA+ community, collaborating with other Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives across all of our Aegon group companies. To create an environment that enables everyone to live their best lives.  

LGBTQIA+ inclusion at Aegon is primarily about two things: empowerment and fun. Regardless of your location around the globe, we want to empower you to be your authentic self at work. The Proud community is active behind the scenes with various departments such as Communications, HR, and senior management to ensure that inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do.

Culture, Race and Ethnicity 

Race can often be an uncomfortable topic in corporate spaces. We have several communities to promote inclusion, respect and appreciation for different cultures across our organization. Moving beyond diversity toward a world without racism where everyone is celebrated, uplifted, recognized and included.  

Young Aegon

This community organizes interesting and fun events, both for Aegon only and external ones to connect with young professionals.

Aegon International — the Netherlands

This is a community for colleagues living and working in the Netherlands. The aims are to support networking, help make friends, settle into life in the Netherlands, practice Dutch, socialize and have fun.
