Transamerica Institute® has launched a new weekly podcast to share its expertise on health, financial security, and retirement with a wider audience.
After seven successful years on the radio, Transamerica Institute® is collaborating with WYPR, Batimore's NPR news station, to enhance the show and make it more accessible in a podcast format. The series is entitled ClearPath – Your Roadmap to Health and Wealth.
Tune into the first episode, The New face of Retirement, to find out what Morgan Freeman, Jane Fonda, and Martin Sheen all have in common, aside from being famous actors. Spoiler alert: They’re all over 80 years old yet still actively working. Collectively, they represent a growing trend of people who are working into older age and dispelling long-standing notions about aging and retirement.
"Work and retirement are no longer mutually exclusive, which I consider to be a positive change, especially for people who want or need to continue working"
Catherine Collinson, founding president and CEO of Transamerica Institute® and its Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies®
The world of retirement has changed a lot in the last 21 years, says Catherine Collinson, founding president and CEO of Transamerica Institute® and its Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies® (TCRS). That's how long TCRS has been conducting it Annual Retirement Surveys of workers in the US.
Collinson: "Work and retirement are no longer mutually exclusive, which I consider to be a positive change, especially for people who want or need to continue working. And as I think we’re all aware, there are widespread concerns that retirement savings are relatively low among older workers. So, for those who are healthy enough to continue working, the opportunity to do so can bring in additional income, bridge savings gaps so people are more financially prepared when they do fully retire."
Each week, podcast host Al Waller discusses a specific topic with experts including Collinson, Mihaela Vincze, public health professional for Transamerica Institute, and special guests. Topics range from health and wellness to workforce trends, financial literacy, and retirement. Each episode explores and explains an issue, discusses opportunities, and offers strategies for listeners.
