Our activities in China
In China, we provide insurance products and asset management. We set foot in the territory almost 90 years ago, becoming one of the earliest foreign pioneers to contribute to the development of financial markets in the country through our subsidiary Transamerica, which opened its first office in Shanghai in 1933. Transamerica started operations in Hong Kong in 1970.
Aegon has been active in the Chinese life insurance sector since 2003. Our joint venture company, Aegon THTF Life Insurance Co., sells life insurance, pension, as well as health and accident insurance products through 13 branches in China.

Aegon Asset Management in China
Aegon has actively participated in the development of the Chinese fund industry since 2008 through Aegon Industrial Fund Management Company Limited (AIFMC), our 49%-owned mutual fund joint venture with INDUSTRIAL SECURITIES. AIFMC provides a full range of investment strategies in China, including fixed income, equities, and blended strategies.
