Expected starting salary: A competitive salary from £58,480 - £87,720 depending on the experience you can bring

Enterprise Technology (formerly Global Technology Services) is a global organisation within Transamerica. We provide dedicated support to Transamerica and we bring all of Aegon's business units together through the use of technology. We provide the backbone - the infrastructure - for how everything works. We’re creating the company’s AI environment, building a flexible ‘cloud experience’ for internal hosting services, designing frameworks for data governance and management, and ensuring the security and stability of the company’s technology. In short, we enable the business units to move more quickly and deliver to our clients in the best possible way. Whether customers are interested in insurance products or annuities or financial services, we're here to ensure they don't have to worry whether their information is safe.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will help to design, build, and maintain software platforms. Working in an Agile manner, you will be responsible for configuring and customising the platform to meet the organisation's needs, developing and maintaining applications, workflows, and integrations, and ensuring the platform's stability, security, and performance. Additionally, you will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, build out solution designs, and ensure the scalability and efficiency of platform architectures. This role involves automating tasks to improve efficiency and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure successful implementation and utilisation of the platform. Your efforts will enable the organisation to streamline processes, improve service delivery, and enhance overall productivity

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop monitoring solutions in support of IT operations systems, infrastructure, and applications; Cloud and On-premises.
  • Business and technical analysis and architectural review with customers.
  • Maintain and improve continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes and pipelines.
  • Enable systems with automated monitoring and alerting.
  • Developing ingest pipelines, visualisations, and dashboard capabilities for structured and unstructured data.
  • Develop triggered alert functionality to show on-screen alerts and send events to ITSM and Event Management Platforms.
  • Execute day-to-day Request and Incident ticket work as necessary.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, build solution designs, and ensure scalability, resiliency, and efficiency of platform architectures.
  • Create system guidelines, process documentation, and training materials for the organisation.
  • Understand and respond to emerging requirements and ambiguous technology decisions.
  • Manage IT and business unit projects related to collaboration solutions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and migrations.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Ability to design & enforce monitoring standards in collaboration with application teams (AppDynamics, Elastic Stack, CloudWatch, Site24x7).
  • Experience engineering & scaling distributed telemetry pipelines (Elastic ingestion, data normalization, dashboards).
  • Expertise in configuring alert normalization, enrichment, and correlation patterns.
  • Experience with the Open Integration Hub, webhook and API-based event ingestion.
  • Understanding of BigPanda incident lifecycle and automated routing to ServiceNow.
  • Solid understanding of logs, metrics, traces, and observability concepts (APM, RUM, synthetic monitoring).
  • Ability to configure and tune AI-driven workflows (automated incident analysis, similar incidents, change risk scoring).
  • Knowledge of SSO, OAuth, API Gateway, secured data flows.
  • Strong AWS experience (Lambda, S3, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IAM)
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, M365).
  • A working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret telemetry and detect patterns proactively.
  • AI Prompt Engineering proficiency.
  • Experience interacting with large language models.
  • Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role (i.e. M365, AWS or Azure Engineer).
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, DevOps processes and automation of services.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (i.e. Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, etc.)
  • Experience with automation and scripting tools (i.e. PowerShell, Graph API, etc.)
  • On-call working may be required periodically.

  • We’re serious about your future and our enhanced pension scheme is now in place.  We ask you to contribute 3% of your salary to your pension and we’ll put in 9%.  If you decide to contribute more, we’ll match it up to a combined total of 20% of your salary (that’s 7% from you and 13% from us). 
  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance.
  • 36 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time).
