Salary: A competitive salary from £27,200 - £40,800, depending on the experience you can bring .

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Assistant to join Aegon on a permanent basis in Edinburgh, within the Finance Operations team. This area is responsible for the integrity of all financial transactions within Aegon UK. This includes the processing of cash receipts, payments, ensures the integrity of all general and purchase ledgers for the operational businesses & any reporting breaches. The area performs financial reconciliations and reporting for inclusion in month end accounting & reporting.
This role undertakes the day-to-day activities of the Operations department delivering a quality service to standard and deadlines. This includes performing journals, accruals & prepayments, day to day bank and balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of Trustee cash books, financial analysis, financial recharges, banking, checking & analysis of all ledgers & balances, and ensuring that all financial accounting controls are operating as planned, before financial reporting is concluded. In addition, you will support other team members in their learning, delivering training and ensuring good practice. You will partner with key stakeholders to reduce financial risks & exposures in relation to key processes. Finally, you will identify accounting and process anomalies, then investigate and resolve them.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Excellent breadth & depth of knowledge of Financial Services accounting and Finance environment
Good breadth & depth of knowledge of general ledger and technical accounting
Knowledge of back-office business practices
Excellent knowledge of banking processes and systems
Knowledge of financial controls environment
Excellent PC skills including, excel, Cognos, reconciliation software
Experience of working in large finance team, preferably within Financial Services
Experience of bank and control account reconciliations, over multi currencies
Experience of bookkeeping and general ledger processes
Experience of using reconciliation software
Proven experience in analytical thinking and problem solving
