Intermediate Accountant
As part of Aegon's Financial Reporting team, you will assist our US affiliate in fulfilling its commitment to helping people to live their best lives. You will be working in a dynamic organization where innovation is a key requirement.
In this role you will perform intermediate accounting functions or responsibilities requiring general supervision. Your role includes general accounting and financial principles, and techniques as well assisting in obtaining, assembling, evaluating, interpreting, recording, and analyzing financial data. You will be responsible in preparing financial reports and performs or assists in performance financial analysis as directed. This position ensures accurate operating expense reporting.
Responsibilities
Participates in monthly accounting processes to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records by preparing journal entries and performing general ledger reconciliations.
Ensures accounting transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
Reconciles, researches and corrects accounting information in accordance with communicated deadlines.
Uses multiple financial systems and/or reporting tools to produce a variety of accounting information.
Reviews and analyzes output to ensure compliance with the US affiliate's Journal Entry and Reconciliation Policies.
Proactively identifies unique problems, such as reconciliation/posting issues, and seeks help to resolve them, if necessary.
Responds to requests received from management and other departments.
Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.
Assist with other department requirements as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 1 to 3 years of experience in Accounting/Financial Services.
Working knowledge of Insurance Accounting
Intermediate to Advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 product suite – Excel including Pivot Tables, Outlook, and Word
Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP and SAP systems
Working knowledge of Essbase Hyperion
Ability to perform tasks independently, requiring general supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Familiarity with US GAAP
Working knowledge of financial area preferred (for example, investments, insurance products, premiums).
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to manage multiple projects, customer service approach, willingness to take on new projects, analytical.
Work effectively individually and within a team; organizational and prioritization skills.
