Aegon is donating EUR 100,000 to UNICEF to support the relief efforts following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Additionally, Aegon has collaborated with UNICEF to create a dedicated page for Aegon employees to make voluntary donations that will be matched by Aegon. However big or small the contribution, together we can make an impact and be a force for good.
UNICEF initiated emergency programming to bring lifesaving support to children and their families affected by the earthquake.
Lard Friese, CEO of Aegon: "My colleagues and I are deeply shocked by the news of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. We have strong links with Turkey as we were active there for 15 years. While we completed the transfer of our Turkish business to VIG Group last year, we still feel closely connected to our former colleagues. We also have colleagues in other parts of our company who have loved ones in the affected areas. We want to move quickly to support the ongoing relief efforts and therefore Aegon is donating EUR 100,000 to support UNICEF’s humanitarian response. Aegon will also match voluntary donations made by Aegon employees."
