Matt Rider, Group Chief Financial Officer at Aegon, has been appointed the Chair of the European Insurance CFO Forum. He succeeds Luigi Lubelli of Generali.
The CFO Forum is a discussion and advocacy group formed by the chief financial officers of major European insurance companies. The group provides industry views and assistance to regulators and standard setters that develop financial reporting for the insurance industry. Key focuses are the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Solvency 2 European Union insurance regulation.
Matt Rider commented: "I am delighted to take on the role of Chair of the CFO Forum at this critical phase in the development of financial reporting standards for the insurance industry. I would like to thank Luigi for his contributions as Chair of the CFO Forum over the last year. He has led the Forum through an important stage in the implementation of IFRS 17 and continuing development of Solvency 2 and other financial reporting issues."
Transparency and consistency
The CFO Forum's mission remains unchanged, he added. "We are committed to transparent, consistent, comprehensive financial reporting that aids investors in understanding our business. We also believe that such reporting must remain relevant to its users, so that the insurance industry continues to clearly communicate to its stakeholders its social and economic role. I look forward to moving forward with our work on these important matters in the year ahead as Chair of the CFO Forum."
