We have an exciting opportunity for a Scrum Master to join our IT Delivery department as we undergo our Agile Transformation Journey, and we change the way we work in Aegon. Reporting to the Scrum Master Capability Development Manager, the Scrum Master will play a vital role in delivering initiatives designed to transform and elevate change in Aegon.
The Job
At Aegon, our Scrum Masters are more than experts in the Scrum Framework – they are diligent leaders who passionately apply and explore a range of Agile techniques to unlock successful delivery and continuous improvement outcomes for their team. You will support the Feature Team, ensuring that they are operating optimally, and are connected from idea to implementation to create the most valuable product for our customers. Educating on how Aegon’s approach to Agile, the Scrum framework and values, is applied to successfully deliver products to our customers, reacting to their needs quickly.
This role will see you coaching and guiding your team to perform at their highest level and at a sustainable pace. You will remove any impediments to progress, facilitate meetings, protect the team from outside influences or distractions and work with the Feature Team to make sure the Product Backlog is in good shape and ready for the next Sprint.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for coaching the Feature Teams to become self-managing and self-organising
Schedule and facilitate Scrum events, such as Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives and Daily Scrums
Drive a culture of transparency, inspection and adaptation throughout the Sprints and planning
Assist the Feature Team with the preparation of the Sprint reports and ensure they are forwarded to stakeholders
Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame or being judged
Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
Be comfortable working with a varying range of Agile experience
Supporting the business with its Agile Transformation by sharing ideas, acting as a champion, driving improvement, and defining best practice
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I) certification, or equivalent
Experience working in a scrum team and successfully delivering Technology/IT projects in accordance with objectives
Knowledge of the financial services technology landscape
Hands on experience of Jira & Confluence
A curious and energetic approach to change, and thrives in a dynamic team environment with like-minded colleagues
Must demonstrate a genuine passion for technology and innovation
Being resilient and staying calm under pressure with good conflict resolution techniques.
Good understanding of modern engineering lifecycles and practices with a continuous improvement mindset
Strong stakeholder management with effective influencing and motivation skills
